Biography

It is a rare occasion to encounter an artist so wrapped up in his music. An artist who is what he sings. It is a rare occasion: an artist, known as the 'white man with the black sound', who lives up to the high expectations a statement like this evokes. And surpasses them! Tino lives his music, sings his music with genuine soul. This he combines with the proud power of rock and funk.

It is not a big surprise to learn that the variety in Tino's work is a reflection of his wide interests and 'know-how'. He walked his musical path from international stages, bands and musicals like Hair, Rent and Aida, to where he stands today.

Tino is a born artist: before his tenth birthday he is the singer and entertainer of his school. When he is twelve years old, he has his debut on dutch television with a dazzling performance of Shakin' Stevens in the first childrens' lip-sync show ('Mini-playbackshow').

Shortly after his television debut Tino decides to treat the audience to his own voice. He becomes the lead singer of several local bands and learns how to thrill pub, club and disco audiences. After graduation from college Tino starts building up his career. Touring in The Netherlands and Germany, he delivers a sound that combines pop and rock with soul, funk, r&b and jazz.

In 1998 Tino enters the theater circuit. With the Dutch Royal Airforce Orchestra he tours as the leading vocalists for two seasons and opens the international dutch annual four day walking event.

For three years, Tino has performed almost daily in the musicals Hair (Italy), Rent and Aida (The Netherlands). In 1999, he is the alternate/understudy lead role of Claude in the 60's hippie musical Hair (Italian tour) where he worked with director/co-writer James Rado. Encouraged by Mr. Rado, Tino auditions for the role of Roger in the rockmusical Rent and got to play the depressed, hiv-positive musician in the Dutch version, produced by Joop van den Ende theater productions and directed by Ivo van Hove the following season. For the same company he plays the male lead role of the Egyptian army captain Radames in Disney's popmusical Aida written by Elton John and Tim Rice in 2002 and 2003.

Since 2008 Tino frequently performs as the leadsinger of the Dutch Royal Airforce Orchestra again during several international concert tours: Plaza Tour "Here comes the Sun", "Sound of Freedom", "Christmas Brings Freedom" and Plaza Tour "Love is in the Air".

Besides his work on stage, Tino has been working as a (session)singer in many recording studios for over 10 years now and has recorded numerous new songs. In 2001 he released his cd 'Half Way There'.
